There are by now several online research focused networking sites. Probably the largest one is ResearchGate. For disseminating research, it is probably wise to have a profile here.

Goodreads is a network for people who read books. It is a good source of inspiration, as one can see what other like-minded people read and liked.

For instance, one can see that I've read at least 232 books, and have another 100 on the to-read list. One can sort the books by the rating the reader gave it (my list here).
