State by State Life Satisfaction in the United States
The General Social Survey, "Monitoring the Future", and the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth don't have state by state data on life satisfaction.

I'm looking to explore the state-level relationship between male-female differences in life satisfaction and various metrics of gender egalitarianism (% of women in state legislatures, gender wage-gap, etc.)

This study did a similar analysis of data from Switzerland: http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00148-009-0257-4

NLSY97 has life satisfaction: YTEL-55.

But apparently, does not have state of residence???

NLSY79 does not seem to have the same question, but it has state-level information.

It has a depression scale, however. DEPRESSION-7.

SEE R(38949.) I WAS HAPPY...

567 0 RARELY/NONE OF THE TIME/1 DAY
1014 1 SOME/A LITTLE OF THE TIME/1-2 DAYS
1693 2 OCCASIONALLY/MODERATE AMT OF THE TIME/3-4 DAYS
5699 3 MOST/ALL OF THE TIME/5-7 DAYS

Probably good enough.

State-level stuff is apparently not public. You have to apply.
